Project Management

Hi Rod

Thank you for coming to our classroom tonight and talked about the project management. A right topic for our next assignment. When you talked about the project management is somewhat relating to what I am doing at my job right now. No, I'm not a project manager but involve with one. When I first get started with the project, the ring leader is already set out for the final result of the project and the time which it expected to finish.

The Design of Everyday Things Chapter 1

Sometime the designers got too caught up with how the product is going to look-like and forget about the functionality of the product. It is hard sometime to create thing that can adjust to everyone needs. The designers often should play the double roles: the role of the users and the role of the designer. Often time designer seem to forget the role of the users. Not just the telephone mentioned in the chapter, but also many other electronic devices that have added so many other extra features on them. Sometime the more functions added, the more problems it created. Often these functions base pass the main function of the device suppose to do.

Would you retired in a retirement or a motel?

I read a very interesting a article while I standing in line at the lucky store couple days ago. This couple is now in their 80s has been living in the travelodge motel for the past 20 years instead living in a retirement home. IT cost them about $25 a day and about 175 per week. They said they don't have any utilities and they can use all air conditioner and heat they wanted to. No worry about clean up, the room service did it for them.

I Google

This week I learned about the igoogle. I've never used before until Dr. Foreman mentioned in the class last week and Toni did her thing in igoogle doc. When I signed up for the igoogle account I did not know I can use my aol account and get to it. At first I signed up as a new user and somehow I did not successful get in. So I entered my aol account and it worked. When I logged in, I was so confuse where to start to make powerpoint presentation. Then I opened one of the files that Lynda had put in there already. I do the save as the presentation and it worked. Late last night when I checked my email, Desmond wanted to work with me on the "A Whole New Mind's Meaning
" I invited him into presentation slides that I have started.

Bloggers

After I read the article "A portrait of the internet's new storytellers", I found out what I did two years ago was considered blogging. I went to the one of the tv show website and post a threat or replied to the threat that was already posted. When I read this article, I noticed there is not too many Asians do the blogging. The reason that the people in the rural areas have less percentage in bloggers because many of
them are still without the internet connection. I know this for a fact because I was one panelist that did the study for the "internet for all campaign." Do I read the blog on the news? I guess I do, I read some of the article online and specially on the American online.

Learning in 21th Century

Does the No child left behind really work?

The article addresses over and over again on the No Child Left Behind program. They said that no matter what the child's economy background he or she should have received the same education benefits treatment as any others. We are living in the century where technology such as the web can enhance skills for the students to learn. In reality, I don't think that No Child Left Behind program is working because students are continuing to fail, some students have more better education than the others because of the economic background, and some pubic schools still does not have enough computer for the students to use. If no child should be left behind really commit the children's education, so why the districts keep on shutting down school? And how come there many after school program like tutoring are cutting?

Connectivism

Before I had never thought of the concept of web 2.0. or look careful at it. After two section of ITEC860, I see more and more people in the media are talking about the web 2.0. Like there are many celebrities or politician using the web to reach their fans. The celebrities using myspace to reach or communication their fans. The politicians like Hilary Clinton using the web to reach the voters. She even has own WebTV. Each day she posts the video blogs as the way in touch with her voters.

Connectivism is the network of learning. We learn thing by interaction with each other. We can learn thing that we learn, not because we have to learn. I think my previous post is talking about the celebrities and politicians tried to build the community online where their fans or voters can learn thing about them. These famous people can also learn about their fans or voters .

Web 2.0

What is Web 2.0? I don't have a solid answer and neither is my co-worker. But my understanding about web 2.0 is about building a community on the cyber space. Be yourself. Connecting one person to another. Express yourself through pictures or videos. Know how to use the internet tools.
